Chapter 49 - France

Delia and Goodwin said goodbye after their talk with the boys and headed off to their honeymoon in France. This was Goodwin’s gift to her. It was completely unexpected. She didn't realize he had money to spend like this. She certainly had next to none. Regardless, she was so very excited.

Delia had never been anywhere that wasn’t running away and never out of the Country. Now she and Goodwin were going on a real trip together as husband and wife.

They checked into a charming Bed & Breakfast in Champs Les Sims. This was a quaint little town known for its excellent wine. Goodwin grabbed her and gave her a kiss that completely melted her insides before taking her to check out the “bed” part of the B&B.

They had 6 days to explore the French Countryside – which turned into only five since the first day they stayed in their room only venturing out for food. The B&B had a full kitchen and Delia delighted in showing off her culinary skills for Goodwin as well as the other guests.

Then they discovered the old fireplace. It was so cozy, that they spent a lot more time just cuddling on the couch and watching the fire pop and crackle. Delia was quite content. It was like they were the only two people without a care in the world. It was heaven for Delia.

Alas, they had an itinerary and had to stick to it. They were in France and you didn’t get to go to France every day. So exploring they planned to do!

Their exploration started at the winery. Goodwin booked the honeymoon suite for one night so they could spend the night there since it was so far from the Bed and Breakfast where they were staying.

Once they arrived, they were overwhelmed by the wine choices, but finally picked out several.

Goodwin watched and laughed while Delia delightedly threw on her swimsuit in order to stomp the grapes they picked.

Goodwin slipped away and bought a winemaker since Delia had so much fun stomping the grapes. Goodwin was doing everything possible to show Delia he loved her so she would begin to confide in him. The Time Machine had been the tip of the iceberg where Delia was concerned, He could feel it when he was with her.

The winery said it would be shipped and they would have it when they arrived home.  He knew Delia was an excellent gardener so he figured she would be able to grow delicious grapes and  make excellent wine.
Later they enjoyed some very nice wine in the wine tasting room. It was relaxing and reminded Delia of the first time he came to her house when she was frustrated with the life fruit bushes. Now she had plenty of it. And some leftover death fishes stored away in the hidden room in her basement - just in case.

They were slightly drunk afterwards so it was time to call it a day.

The next morning it was time to check out and leave the winery.

They had bought wine, picked grapes, made wine, drank wine and made love in the charming honeymoon suite Goodwin had reserved.  But they still had other plans. The museum was next on their list of places to tour. Museums made Delia remember the night that Goodwin proposed.  So she was quite happy to go with him to the French Museum. Of course he kept kissing her neck in the dark corners when no one was looking which made Delia giggle like a schoolgirl.

Then it was off to tour some of the ancient tombs.  This was quite spooky and they found a few trinkets that they were able to keep as souvenirs.

Their vacation was almost at end when they discovered a little French Bistro in town. Delia and Goodwin spent hours sitting, talking, people watching and sipping fruity drinks.

These quiet times were the times that Goodwin started his 20 questions game. He began asking about the Ambrosia recipe, about Alex's father, her parents and how she learned to cook so well and the questions just went on and on.

She never had a chance to ask him much of anything and when she did, he changed the subject. She told him truth mixed with fiction when it came to her past. She couldn't tell him everything, it would ruin it. As far as she was concerned, she was going to grow old with Goodwin and make him happy every single day.

Delia was having such a great time and they were certainly the typical tourists. And no vacation would be complete without a few selfies to commemorate the event!

Yes Goodwin, they came out perfect!

The last day finally came. They stood in town by the fountain and enjoyed the final hours of their honeymoon and said au revoir to the French countryside.

Deelia began to mentally prepare herself for the new reality of two teenage boys and a husband! She was so used to being alone that even though she loved Goodwin, having him live there full time would be such a welcome addition to her life.
