Chapter 22 - Daniel gets Married

Darius
In addition to Daniel getting married, Darius was graduating from High School. So much change. Delia made sure they took time out to celebrate Darius's birthday and graduation. Delia still loved looking at this intriguingly handsome but shy young man with his grandmothers green eyes.

The four of them sat around the kitchen table and had one last birthday dinner as a family of four. That was going to change in a few days when Liana and Daniel were married.
Darius and Cherry (the dancer from Daniel's party) had become good friends, but Darius wanted more so he gathered up his courage and invited her over. He was doing everything he could to woo her. And things were progressing – maybe too well to Delia’s liking.

Really - a dancer?  Just because she danced with Darius out of 'duty' he had taken this as she liked him and being shy, he really grasped on to that. Delia knew it was hard for him with the girls, but really Darius, a dancer?  He invited Cherry to be his date at the wedding and she agreed. What could Delia say? Cherry made Darius happy and that made Delia happy. She better not hurt him was all she could think.

Delia had let herself go and was gaining a little weight. Again, she realized she really was beginning to see signs of aging, which was somewhat comforting in a weird way. She should be old! She certainly felt it this past year.

With Daniel and Liana’s wedding day around the corner, she decided to get a new dress and have her hair and makeup done for the wedding. She had been walking around like a frump in her bathrobe most days. She wanted Daniel to be proud of her.

It was the day of the wedding and when Delia got home she looked in the mirror and thought she didn't look half bad. It would do nicely.

Then it started snowing AND she realized it was going to be a full moon. That definitely threw a little bit of a wrench into the wedding day. She knew what could happen on a full moon and wasn’t prepared with any of the cure potion. Delia needed to calm herself so she went into the boys room, full of childhood memories along with her rocking chair. As soon as she got in there she started to feel really queasy and ran into the bathroom right before the ceremony and threw up. She felt much better after that.

But the snow didn’t seem to bother Daniel and Liana.  They took it in stride and said their vows outside in the snow with their winter coats on over their wedding attire.  Everyone very happily came inside to cut the cake and dance the night away. Thank you for the snow thought Delia, then she remembered why she was alone and had to try really hard not to cry.

Liana was gorgeous in her gown and Daniel so handsome in his tux.  This made her smile. But when they had their first dance, right there in the same spot she and Francisco had their first dance, she just lost it. She was so emotional. Then when Daniel asked her to dance she cried through the whole thing!
In the mean time, Darius and Cherry were getting closer.

Cherry was beginning to fall for the sweet, innocent Darius as much as he had fallen for her. The two of them were oblivious to anything going around them except each other. The kissing didn't stop on the dance floor and moved to Darius's bedroom.  Cherry wound up spending the night in Darius’s bed. Delia had to think back to how she and Francisco got together. Francisco moved in with her before they were married. She had been alone.  As much as she would have liked them to wait, they were both adults.

For a wedding gift, Delia bought a small bungalow for Daniel and Liana.  She had some money from Francisco's insurance and she couldn't think of a better way to spend part of it. She also gave him his father's car.  They couldn’t be happier in their little home and spent their first night as a married couple in their cozy little log cabin. Daniel had taken a job as a Policeman and Liana was working with the local sports team. So they were well on their way to a very happy life together.
