Chapter 25 - Assimilating into Hidden Springs

It was not an easy thing for Delia. She felt like she had abandoned her children so she poured every ounce of being she had left into caring for Francie.  Delia was all about pink after living with 4 boys for 35 years! A girl! A very beautiful and healthy baby girl in spite of Delia being 55! Or was she really only 41?  Had the potion really made her younger?  Is the potion responsible for Francisco being able to give her a daughter post mortem?  She hadn't thought about the potion being the catalyst. But Francie was living proof. Delia had to understand this phenomenon - for Francie, her children she left in Appaloosa Plains and the grandchild she would likely never see.

Before she left Appaloosa Plains she called the clerk at the Elixir Consignment Store to ask if she knew anything about Fortune Tellers in Hidden Springs.  She told Delia she would call them to let them know she was interested in a job.  Delia had never had enough time to investigate them in Appaloosa Plains; maybe that was a good thing. But now, she could hire a sitter for Francie and do what she needed to do. It was time to figure out this mess. Maybe her mother was indeed on to something when she told Delia about other types of supernatural creatures. Time would tell.
Delia made her way to the park where the Fortune Tellers kept their trailer.  It was very close to their house. She went inside to inquire about getting a job there. The owner said that he had received a call from the Elixir store manager out of Appaloosa Plains and to expect her.  He heard she made excellent potions so was happy to have her on his staff. This spooked Delia but she was happy to have the job.  It would serve two purposes: allow her to make an income to support her and Francie (her money wouldn't last forever) and get closer to uncovering the supernatural world surrounding her. She was to start right away.

Later that day, Delia visited the Hidden Springs Elixir store to see if she could consign some of the things she had left.  She needed some quick cash to hold her over.  She left most of the money to the boys to be sure they were well cared for. Well, word spread quickly that she was very skilled at making powerful potions and the shopkeeper was happy to help her out. He told her just got a new recipe book and would be happy to sell it to her if she would bring more potions to consign. It was a recipe for making Zombies!  She was trying to cure them, not MAKE them!  It was also upsetting because he knew who she was. Delia was trying to hide. But it was just the Elixir store, no one else would know. She had to believe that and keep a low profile.

Even though Delia didn’t know very many people, she found that some of them surely knew her. So Delia invited her boss over for dinner. She had to try to find out what he knew. She had to gain his trust so he would confide in her. He was pleasant enough although a bit strange, but he did run a Fortune Telling business!  It was working though.  He gave her a promotion which meant he was very happy with her performance.  Her reputation probably didn’t hurt either. But the trust was growing.
