Chapter 36 - Escaping into Dreams

The conversation between Aiden and Delia had them both upset.  They weren’t getting along at all. As often happens when parents and children fight, Aiden turned to a girl in his school for comfort. He invited Antoinette Song over and cuddling soon progressed into a full blown make out session. He felt happier than he had since his father died and asked her to be his steady date which she immediately agreed to.

Delia was feeling sad so she went to beautiful little wishing fountain near the Fortune Teller trailer. She thought if she made a wish and drank from the cool clear blue water she might feel better. She wished that she were younger as she was really feeling her age. She had no idea her real age anymore. The mess with Aiden had taken its toll on her. Wishing for it did little to make her feel better so she drank from the well. The refreshing sparkling water was rumored to make those that drank from it feel more youthful. She certainly needed it. She would soon be 50 - or who knows how old really. When she did the math - it was more like 150!  She was beginning to believe all of this crazy folk lore so she took a long drink. It did seem to make her feel better - maybe a little bit.

Delia was heading home but needed to stop by the Elixir store to consign some potions and plants from her garden. It was there that she learned where Aiden got his wands. The clerk asked if her son was getting good use out of it. Delia ran out after giving them her things without answering.  She fell exhausted into bed when she got home. So much for feeling better.

Then the dreams started again even more vivid than before. She not only dreamed of Francisco but also of Nicholas. She was shocked when she dreamed of kissing Nicholas since she now despised him. And strangely her mom was looking on. Maybe she was trying to tell her something or maybe Delia felt like she had been betrayed by both of them. It was very odd as dreams usually are. In her dream, Nicholas was trying to convince her that he really loved her. Obviously that is what Delia wanted to believe so she dreamed it.

But then, Francisco appeared in her dream so she ran to him – her one true love and was quickly in his arms. Nicholas promptly came over and called her a cheater!  He didn’t even love her.  How dare him!

Delia turned back to Francisco, they embraced and kissed again.  He came to bed with her as he did in her dream from long ago. It was a sad dream since it could never be a reality.  Francisco would never be a part of her life again. She woke up feeling loved, tired and sad all at the same time.
