Chapter 24 - A New Town, A New Life, Hidden Springs

Delia got the basement packed and loaded up in a trailer she pulled behind the Wilburmobile. She wasn't taking much. The contents of the basement, her clothes and a few mementos. The rest she would get when she got where she was going. She moved into a hotel and spent her time researching the best place to go while she waited for the birth of her baby.

Soon, it was time. In the middle of the night, she went into labor. She managed to get herself to the hospital in the Wilburmobile. It made her smile with all the pleasant memories. Surprisingly she didn’t cry. But what did make a tear escape was when the doctor told her it she had a delivered a healthy baby girl. She so much expected a boy that she asked him if he was sure and he just laughed at her.

A girl - Delia couldn't help but smile! In honor of her baby’s father she named her daughter Francie.  Delia was surprised at how much she already adored her little angel. She must be an angel. Nothing else made sense.

Delia took Francie back to the hotel and put her down to sleep. She wrote another note to her family to let them know she was okay; she would be in touch and that she loved them very much. This time she cried. She cried as she fed Francie and as she rocked her. Finally, she cried herself out. She had cried more in the last few years than in her entire life.

But now she had her baby girl to care for and a new life to make for both of them. It felt very reminiscent of her childhood; just her and her mom and no father. Her mom did it and so could she. That gave her the confidence to move forward. She would never leave this child.  Maybe someday she could return and reunite with her boys.

When researching a place for her and Francie to live, Delia found a modest 2 story log cabin in Hidden Springs, a beautiful town South of Appaloosa Plains that had majestic mountains with hot springs and waterfalls.
Delia and Francie left for Hidden Springs the night following her birth. It was a tough ride but they had the “Wilburmobile” to sustain them and that made it much more pleasant. She pulled the Wilburmobile into the driveway and got out carrying Francie. "Look Francie! Our brand new home. We will be happy here. It is beautiful," cooed Delia to her one week old child.

The cabin had a little room, not as big as the basement, but big enough to ‘hide’ the potions and cauldrons.  The desk she could put in a small office on the second floor. She hid the room as her mom had done before her, with a bookcase containing a secret door.
