Chapter 133 - Reconnecting

Delia couldn't get the conversation with Cordell off her mind. She had to keep busy to keep from going crazy knowing that in a few short days she would meet her grandmother. Her grandparents were still alive. She couldn't shake the thought that Cordell wasn't telling her everything. He wanted me to hear it from them and it was all she could do to agree to see her grandmother who stayed with the son-of-a-bitch that killed her father. She tried to reconcile why Cordell would go behind her back to try to find them when he knew her story. Of course, she thought, he had no idea they would still be together or even alive.

"Hi pretty lady!" called out Cordell happily as he walked into Delia's garden startling Delia from her thoughts.

Delia jumped up saying, "Oh - you scared me. I didn't hear you open the gate."

"It was open. You okay?" he said noticing she looked a little unsettled.

"I just can't get my grandmother out of my head...I really don't want to see her."

"Delia - it's already set. I talked to her this morning. We are meeting on Monday afternoon. Why don't we go see our grandchildren. I think reconnecting with them and seeing our family will be helpful and we need to let them know even if things don't work out."

"Tomorrow? We are seeing her tomorrow?" Delia exhaled slowly. "Okay, then let me wash up and let's make the rounds," said Delia feeling a little better at the prospect of seeing her grandchildren.

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

First on the list was the family of witches, Jewel, Donnovan and their little daughter Cheyenne. Cheyenne was just a couple of years younger than Stone having started to school a year behind him.

Jewel came to the door dressed to the nines. She had to out a meet Donnovan for a business luncheon with a client later but when her father called, she made time for them.

"Cheyenne is in the kitchen giving the dog a treat. She is so excited to see you guys!" gushed Jewel.

She was a clone of her father with the exception of her light blue eyes the exact shade as Delia's.

Cheyenne looked up when she saw her grandparents coming in the house. She ran past their huge dog and into her "Mimi's" arms.

"Mimi!" exclaimed Cheyenne.

"Hey Chi baby! You are so big! How is school?"

"It's good Mimi. Can you help me with my homework?'

"I would love to."

Cheyenne grabbed Delia by the hand and dragged into the room where her books were.

Delia called out to Jewel and Cordell that she would be busy for a few minutes to go ahead and catch her up on everything.

"Jewel, I found your mother's grandmother living in Moonlight Falls. We are going to meet with her tomorrow. Your mother isn't too happy about it. Her grandmother is a fairy Jewel, like Stone."

"Oh Daddy. No wonder we are all drawn to supernaturals! I truly thought Stone inherited his gift from you. But, why doesn't Mom want to see her?"

"It's a long story and one I will let your mother share as soon they are reunited."

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

The next stop was the family of vampires, Joy, Sahan and their little boy Jerald. Joy met her father outside. Her beautiful blue eyes were now a pale blue since Sahan turned his wife into a vampire and her skin taking on the ashen color of those that live on blood, but live a very long time.

"Hi baby!" said Cordell cheerfully, "How is my little blond headed grandson?"

Jerald took after his grandmother with her little turned up nose and light blonde hair. But his eyes were all his father's. Glowing amber already at such a young age even though he still ate regular food.

Jerald was just a little older than his Aunt Mira.

"Hey Jerald, my man! How are you?" boomed Cordell as he grabbed up his grandson for a hug.

"Hi Papa! Where's Mimi?" said the little boy as he looked around and saw Delia coming in behind her husband.

Delia grabbed the little boy and looked at that little face so full of mischief.  "Joy, you and Sahan are going to have your hands full with this one. I can tell! He is scheming already!"

"I am going to be a ski man? What is a ski man Mimi?"

Delia busted out laughing and hugged the little boy tight while he was small enough to allow it. Cordell and Joy sat down to watch the rest of the football game while they waited for Sahan to get home.

He wanted to tell them about Delia's grandmother.

Delia held on to her grandson like a life raft. After Cordell told the couple who they were meeting tomorrow, Sahan took it all in not saying much. Joy on the other hand went off like a rocket talking non-stop. "Mother! You are part fairy! This is wonderful! I have a great-grandmother!"

Cordell looked over his shoulder at Delia to make sure she was okay. He then said, "Joy, we don't know why she wasn't a part of Delia's life. So it might not be a joyous meeting."

Joy stopped. "Oh. I am sorry Mother. I just thought..."

Delia interrupted her daughter, "It's okay Honey. It is exciting, but a bit nerve racking not knowing. But we need to go see Alia and Jaycen and those adorable twins before they have to go to bed." She hugged Jerald one more time before handing the little boy to his mom.

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Last stop, the family of werewolves, Alia, Jaycen and their twins Randi and Elliot. The twins were just a little younger than their daughter Mira.

Delia saw Jaycen picking up his son before answering the door. When he opened the door Delia gasped involuntarily but quickly recovered. It was eerie to see father and son looking out the doorway, both with glowing eyes looking very much alike except for the color of their glowing eyes. His amber and his son's blue like his mom's.

"Hi Delia,Cordell, please come in. I was just getting the kids ready for bed." said Jaycen. Delia and Cordell followed their son-in-law into the couples home. "Alia is in the kitchen and Randi is playing in the floor."

Cordell knew Delia wanted to put Randi to bed so he thought he would go ahead and fill in Alia. He couldn't help but be a tiny bit sad that Alia's eyes, that had been a exact replica of his deep ocean blue eyes, were now light blue and glowing like her husband's. But knowing what he now knew about his wife and that she was half fairy, he understood the draw to the supernatural for all of his children.

Alia's reaction was no different than that of her sisters. Cordell was happy they had taken the day to visit with each of their married children to let them know. It kept Delia from brooding about it.

Delia came downstairs after laying a very sleepy Randi in her bed and took little Elliott, now ready for bed too. "Your sister was so good and was asleep as soon as I put her in bed. I hope you two are as close as your mother and her twin sister. Twins are so special! Okay - your turn. Let's get you to bed so we can talk to your mom & dad.

Alia and Jaycen wished them luck with her grandmother before the couple left for home.

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

The next morning Delia got up early, antsy for what was to come that day. After spending the day with her grandchildren she came home to her own toddler, and genie, little Mira.

She prepared Mira's food and placed the little blonde headed girl in her high chair to eat. "Eat up Mira. Today, you could get a new great-grandmother - or not."

"Gamma!" exclaimed the little girl and started eating her food with her hands instead of using her spoon.

Delia sat down at the table watching the little girl and getting nervous. Cordell came downstairs and saw her sitting there looking sad. He sat down next to her. "Good morning pretty lady." he said sweetly as he grabbed her hand and pulled it to him.

"Hi." she said sadly.

Cordell threaded his fingers with his wife's. "You should be happy sweetheart. If nothing else, you will get answers you deserve today. I will be there with you. Nothing bad can happen."

"You aren't letting me out of this are you?"

Cordell scooted the chair around so he could pull Delia closer. He kissed his wife's hand. "I love you. I promise, it will be okay."

Delia sighed, "I guess that means no." Cordell just smiled as Mira started yelling "Down Mommy!"

"I will take care of her," said Delia as she got up and pulled Mira from her high chair.

"Okay, I am going to take Stone outside and throw the baseball with him now that the weather is nice again. Burn off some nervous energy. Angie and her friend are going to babysit while we are gone." Then he yelled, "Stone, get the ball. Come on!" and headed outdoors.

The boys spent a good hour playing catch. Cordell finally got overheated and said he needed to go inside to get ready.

Soon after, Angie's friend Roger arrived to help her with Stone and Mira.

Delia and Cordell left for the meeting that might change her life forever.

When they arrived at the restaurant, Delia got cold feet again. "Cordell. Are you sure this is the right thing to do? I think I want to go, please, let's just leave," pleaded Delia.
